September’s Message from Mrs. Terry
The 2020-2021 school year is well underway! I am so pleased at how well our students are adjusting to the changes we’ve been forced to make. Their resilience amazes me! Students have quickly learned the arrival, transition, and dismissal procedures and are doing an excellent job properly wearing their face masks and social distancing.
While we want nothing more than to remain in the school building throughout the year, we have been making preparations in the event that we need to quarantine. Our students are learning how to navigate within Google Classroom, ZEARN, Social Studies Weekly, in Sync, Lexia, Read Theory, etc. and submit assignments electronically. The teachers have shared pivot home schedules so that you are aware of how your child’s day would look if they need to be learning from home. When your child is completing homework, please ask him/her to show you the online resources that are being used.
Celebrating our students’ successes is an important part of our school culture. While our celebrations will look different, we hope to make our students feel as special as they deserve. Beginning next month, we will recognize our Students of the Month with the Magic Lamp Award. Monthly, one student from each homeroom who is M – Motivated, A – adaptable, G – generous, I – inclusive, and C - cooperative will be selected for this award. Administration will visit each classroom to present the award and a special treat to our students. We will take a photograph and send it to you since you currently aren’t able to be present. More information will be shared about our quarterly award presentations as we get closer to the end of the quarter.
If you haven’t viewed my Welcome Back video you may find it on the Schoeffner website under Administration – About Our School. If you still have questions about the new year after viewing the presentation, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher or one of the Schoeffner administrators. Communication is one of the keys to a successful family/school relationship. We must work together to help Every Student Excel.
