St. Charles Parish Public Schools, nestled along the banks of the Mississippi River in southeast Louisiana, has been at the forefront of education and a leader among public schools in Louisiana since the mid 1970’s. Led by Superintendent Dr. Ken Oertling and eight board members, the school system is home to more than 9,800 students and 1,600 employees. Fifteen schools, five centers and seven sites serve the community of St. Charles Parish with classes ranging from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade, head start, and community education.
