Principal's Message

  • Greetings Schoeffner Shark Families,

It is unbelievable to me that this is the last newsletter of the 2020-2021 school year. Time passed so quickly! I am so proud of our Schoeffner community of teachers, staff, students, parents, and caregivers for the true teamwork displayed this year. Considering the struggles we faced this year associated with COVID-19, our team really came together to help our students excel. Your trust in us as a school and school system is greatly appreciated.

The week of May 17 will be student appreciation week. In conjunction with our PTO we have activities planned this week to celebrate our students and the hard work and perseverance they displayed this year. A separate flyer will be sent home outlining daily activities.

May is indeed a busy month at Schoeffner! LEAP testing will continue for 3rd and 4th grade through May 4th. Fifth graders will resume testing on May 6 and continue through May 12. We will have a modified version of our Saints Experience on May 14. Our End of Year Award Ceremony for 3rd and 4th grade will take place on May 21. On Monday, May 24, we will celebrate our 5th grade students. We’ll begin the day with their End of the Year Award Ceremony and then they will have a special sendoff celebration including a picnic lunch. Both of the end of the year ceremonies will be recorded so you can celebrate with your child at home. Tuesday, May 25 is the last day of school for students. We will continue with our tradition of hosting an end of the year Talent Show on this day. The only difference this year is that it will be virtual! As a special privilege, fifth grade students who auditioned and were selected will be participating in individual or group acts. All students will have the opportunity to participate in a class act. I will share a video link with you so you can enjoy this at home too.

All St. Charles Parish Library locations are open and will host its annual Summer Reading Program from June 1 through July 31. Read 360 minutes during the summer to receive prizes and be entered into a drawing for a library prize pack. The reading program is open to all ages - children, teens, and adults - so we encourage you to read as a family! Visit to sign up with Beanstack to be ready to record your reading this summer!  In-person summer events will be back and are being finalized at the moment. Visit for the latest information.

Sharing in the many adventures with you that this year presented has been an honor and joy. While our staff and students are recharging their batteries for the next school year, we will also take some time to reflect on our strengths and challenges from this school year in the hopes of making next year the best year yet! We remain committed to doing our best to make Schoeffner a place where Every Student Excels.
