St. Rose Physical Education teachers have started a Mileage Club at school.  When students in 1st grade-5th grade go to enrichment classes we keep track of how far they run laps that day.  When students run 40 laps they earn a small foot that is awarded to them for running 5 miles. When a student runs 15 and 25 miles a special number award is given for reaching that goal.  Also each month a student can earn a special award given out to the student who runs the most laps that month in their class.  We will also keep track of how far each class runs each grade level, as well as how far the entire school has run.  At the end of the year we will give out special awards to the students who have run the longest in each homeroom 1st-3rd place for boys and girls.  The boy and girl student that runs the most in each homeroom gets a special award at the end of the school year (MEGA FOOT).  For every 200 miles that the SRE students run a tennis shoe is placed on the wall in front of the PE Teachers classrooms.  We keep track of how far we have run every year.

    Kids Who Run Have Fun

St. Rose Elementary is part of the Rising New York Road Runners 2020-2021 Program.  This is our second year in this program that is designed to develop movement through a mix of running and fitness activities. Kids build confidance, gain motivation, and fuel their desire to stay active.  Rising New York Road Runners give incentives/rewards to our students when they achieve so many sessions of activites at school as well as mileage of activities. Students receive t-shirts, head bands, running shoes, lunch boxes, and achievement medals. So be looking for these from your children when they come home.
