Mr. Michael W. Lacey

Welcome to Seventh Grade Advanced Math.  My teaching experience started in 1986.  I am a National Board Certified Teacher and hold lifetime teaching certificates in Texas and in Louisiana. I am looking forward to teaching your child math, helping them to become fluent, precise, and confident in their work.  I have taught in both private and public schools around the New Orleans area. I continue to attend workshops to refine my teaching methods.

The Advanced Math Course follows the majority of the regular Seventh Grade Curriculum during the fall semester, which covers the Major Content of Grade 7 skills tested on LEAP.  During the Spring semester, the pace starts to pick up as we finish the Grade 7 curriculum during Quarter 3 and teach three modules of Grade 8.  Students must earn a B average on this course in order to qualify for Algebra I course in Eighth grade.

My regular Math 7 classes will follow a regular paced curriculum and will be planned with Mrs. Vicknair and Ms. Walker.

This year I will continue using Google Classroom with our district providing Chromebooks.  Google Classroom will be used to post assignments and class notes.

School Status will be used to communicate with parents.  This is a text-based program and regular texting rates will apply.  Communication between parents and myself will be the key to successful learning with your child.

Most students have never had to study for math.  This year is different. Students should plan to at least review class notes 10 minutes each night to help remember what was taught.
