Welcome to my class. This is my 26th year teaching. I am looking forward to this school year. I will teach Literacy this year.
I hope you are staying safe and healthy during our time away from school. Please remember how important it is to read during this time away from school. It is important that you schedule a time to read and write daily. You may read to yourself, a parent, a sibling, a stuffed animal, or even to your pet! Remember to practice being a fluent reader! Use your accurate reading, expression, good phrasing, and appropriate rate as you read. As you practice reading, please don't forget how important it is to STOP and THINK as you read. Make sure that what you are reading is making sense and that you are able to tell what it is about.
Another good idea is to keep a diary or a journal of these days away from school. You may want to write about what you read each day, what you and your family do each day to pass your time or your feelings about what's happening in our world today. You may even want to create a story to write. Whatever you do, make sure you take time to practice reading and writing!
Please make sure that you check your teachers' Google Classroom pages. You will find essential information from them there.
Don't forget to utilize Lexia (www.lexiacore5.com) and MyOn (www.myon.com/index.html).
