Welcome to my penguin class of four year old students. This year is my 20th year as a teacher of four year old students. I have been teaching in St. Charles Parish for 30 years. During this time, I have taught fourth grade, first grade, Reading Recovery and Headstart. I have been a member of the faculty at St. Rose Elementary School for 26 years.
During the last 30 years, I have received many honors for teaching. In 2003, I was selected as St. Charles Parish's Primary School Teacher of the Year. In December 2014, I received another honor from the Louisiana Association of Computer Using Educators. I was named the regional and the state winner for Early Childhood Teacher of the Year. One of my greatest achievements was undergoing the very challenging process of National Board Certification for the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. In November of 2005, I was very proud and honored to receive my National Board Certicification. In May of 2015, I went through the renewal process for my National Board Certification. In November of 2015, I was honored to receive my renewal certification. For the year 2016-2017, I was St. Rose Elementary School's Teacher of the Year and St. Charles Parish Elementary Teacher of the Year.
Currently, I live in River Ridge with my husband Rob. I am originally from Shreveport where my parents live. I graduated from Woodlawn High School. In 1989, I received my undergraduate degree in elementary education from the University of New Orleans. Another of my achievements was receiving a master's degree in curriculum majoring in early childhood education from the University of New Orleans in 1998.
Teaching four year olds is my number one passion. When not teaching, I love to scrapbook, travel, scuba dive, fish, clog, and read. Also I am a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International for key woman educators and serve as the treasurer of my local chapter of DKG.
