We are wishing you all a safe and happy summer!
This has been a difficult school year for all students and parents, and we want you to know that we are here, as always to support you in any way we can. Please visit Mrs. Rudiger's webpage for online resources as well as you child's homeroom teacher's page for more information as well. If any of you are in need of counseling resources, please email one of us, and we will be happy to send you a list of community resources and work with you to get you any support you or your family may need. During these times, try as best as possible to keep routines and schedules. Outside activities, calls with families and friends, and figuring out ways for alone time for both parents and kids is important.

It is important to talk openly with your kids about any worries or fears they may have, especially at this time. Some coping strategies to use include: journaling, drawing, exercise, having a worry monster, talking with others, deep breaths (practice using a pinwheel if you have one), muscle relaxation, mindfulness, stress balls/ squishy snakes, thinking of things that make you happy, wall pish-ups, and chair sit-ups. More than ever, it is important that at this time we are showing kindness. We know this is a stressful time for everyone, and by spreading kindness we can make it a little better! Under our documents, there is an acivity sheet. Using words or pictures, fill the bucket up with ways that you can show kindness this week. Examples are provided on the activity sheet.

Despite the struggles that you and your family may be enduring at this time, it is important to remain grateful. Keeping gratitude in mind improves physical health, reduces aggression, improves sleep, enhances self-esteem, increases empathy, and more (Positive Psychology). Attached under our documents is a worksheet to go along with this lesson, but just writing down, drawing, or verbalizing three small things we are thankful for each day is a great way to edvelop gratitude.

We all have unique qualities, and it is important to remember what we love about ourselves. When we feel good about ourselves, we are happier and healthier. May 4th Weekly Lesson: Mindfulness and Meditation
Mrs. Noel and Mrs. Hermann teach all grade-levels developmentally ways to be mindul. Some positive results of incorporating mindfulness and meditation into your lifestyle inclue less stress, improvedcommunication and empathy, and reduced anxiety. We think both students and parents could benefit from some mindfulness during this stressful time. Now is a great time to take a few moments to use one of these links for guided mindful breathing videos. Please also look under our documents for a relaxation script for children. The internet has a plethora of resources that you can tailor to any developmental level and adjust for personal preference. Have a great week, everyone!

May 11th Weekly Lesson: Be Mindful
The activity for this week is also focused on mindfulness. You can find the worksheet under Counselor Docs. Engage your five senses and reflect on your feelings. The more you practice being mindful, the easier it will become.
May 18th Lesson: Closing
It has been quite the year, and we know the students have been working hard. In closing, please know that there are resources posted under our 'docments' tab that can be utilized during the summer. Also, calling 911 is always an option in an emergency. We miss and love you all and hope to see you in August!
