Mrs. Denise Peinado
My name is Denise Peinado, and I am the School Counselor for grades PK-2. My professional background includes teaching and counseling. I earned my Bachelor of Psychology degree from U.N.O. and my Master of Education in Counselor Education (School Counseling) from U.N.O. I am a Nationally Certified Counselor and am a member of the Louisiana Counseling Association. I have been a counselor at St. Rose Elementary since 2007. Prior to working at St. Rose Elementary, I worked in both private and public schools as a teacher and an academic advisor.
My focus is developing the whole child. I teach counseling lessons to classes and provide individual and group counseling as well. These class counseling lessons are taught each week. These lessons focus specifically on academic, personal/social and career areas. I collaborate with teachers and administrators to determine the needs of our students and focus these lessons according to these needs.
I also collaborate with our upper grade counselor, Mrs. Katie Gabriel. She works with our 3rd-5th grade students. We collaborate on school-wide events such as Red Ribbon Week and S.R.E. Student Appreciation Week. I also work closely with Ochsner/St. Charles Parish Hospital for Red Ribbon Week and S.R.E. Student Appreciation Week. Ochsner/St. Charles Parish Hospital is a valuable partner and provides our school with support for these student activities. I also collaborate with Second Harvest Food Bank and coordinate a food back pack program here at S.R.E.
I am a student advocate and I love working with our students. My goal is to empower each student to discover their potential in life and strive to "climb to the other side of their mountain" (i.e. the next grade level). I am passionate about what I do each day to support our students as they embrace learning and prepare for their futures. I am part of a team of dedicated teachers, administrators, staff and parents. I believe that together we can help our students become focused, committed, and excited about their learning experiences in the classroom and in the world.
Please feel free to visit my web page often. You can contact me by phone as well. I can be reached at (504) 464-9254.
Thank you for all that do each day for our students. I look forward to working with you this school year. We are all working together to create a happy, safe, and supportive learning environment for our students.
"One School...One Team...Making a Difference!"
Sincerely,
Denise Peinado, M.Ed., NCC
