At the inception of my career with St. Charles Parish Schools, I completed my student teaching experience with a fourth grade class at St. Rose Elementary School (present-day Albert Cammon Middle School).
In August 1993, I officially began my journey as an educator at Norco Elementary School. During the first few years, I taught 6th grade math, science and social studies. Later, I was assigned to teacher 5th grade language arts until I had the distinct pleasure of looping up with my fifth graders to sixth grade where I completed a total of 17 1/2 years as a classroom teacher. Additional responsibilities included but were not limited to the following: Supervisor of Student Teaching, Mentor Teacher, Beta Club Sponsor (17 years), Grade Level Representative, School Improvement Team Member, and St. Charles Parish Reading Council Board Member (Vice-President-2 years).
In December of 2010, I was appointed to Allemands Elementary School as Assistant Principal. Some of my responsibilities included Discipline, School Improvement Chairperson, Supervising Kindergarten Monitors, Custodians, Enrichment Teachers, Cafeteria Monitors, Special Education, Safe Schools, Transportation (school-level), managed AM/PM Duty Schedules and Locations, and the shared responsibility of conducting faculty and staff observations/evaluations.
Four years and six months later, June 2015, I was assigned to St. Rose Elementary School as Assistant Principal. During my two and a half years there, I primarily supervised Pre Kindergarten-Grade 2. During year two, I primarily supervise Pre Kindergarten-1st Grade, Buses (school-level), serve as one of our school's Teacher Orientation Contacts, and shared a host of additional responsibilities with our administrative team. During my last semester at SRE, I supervised Grades 2 and 3.
In December of the 2017-18, school year, I was assigned to New Sarpy Elementary School as Interim Principal for the spring semester.
During 2018-2019 school year, I was assigned to Harry Hurst Middle School where I assumed responsibilities as one of three assistance principals with responsibilities to Special Education, Science and everything 6th grade.
This school year, I have been named Principal of Albert Cammon Middle School. What a way to come full circle along my career path!
