Welcome to the Mental Health Professional's Page

  • My name is Tameka Jasmine and I am the new Mental Health Professional at R.K. Smith Middle School. I am very excited and honored to be a part of “The Best Middle School in the Country”!  My role is to help develop, support, and implement the Social-Emotional Wellness Program at R.K. Smith Middle School.

Ever since I can remember, working with children and families has been my passion. I have worked with children and families in different capacities within various settings including schools, hospitals, and managed care. Prior to joining St. Charles Parish Public Schools, I worked in Jefferson Parish Public Schools for five years as a school social worker in elementary and middle schools.

By applying expertise in mental health and behavior, my goal is to help students succeed academically, socially, behaviorally, and emotionally utilizing the foundation of Social and Emotional Learning (SEL). This aligns with the overall goal of the program, which is to partner with families, teachers, school administrators, and other professionals to create a safe, healthy, and supportive learning environment for students that strengthen connections between home, school, and the community. I look forward to being a part of the growth and progress of our school.

“Every child deserves a champion-- an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection, and insists that they become the best that they can possibly be.”
