Principal's Message

  • Dear Mimosa Park Pelican Families,

I am THRILLED to announce that I was named as the Principal of Mimosa Park on April 27, 2022! I am humbled and honored to have been given the opportunity to serve as the principal of Mimosa Park and am beyond blessed to be able to continue to work with your child(ren) through their educational journey. These past four months have been challenging; however, I have enjoyed every single minute of being part of the PELICAN family! Your continuous support and cooperation did not go unnoticed, and I appreciate all stakeholders for coming together to make this transition as smooth as possible for our staff and students. Thank you again for all you do and your support of MPE!

It seems like just recently we were in August welcoming our students to another year of learning and growing. Now we are in the month of May and still attending to our core business of teaching and learning as we prepare to close out this very productive school year! Please join me in celebrating the successes and accomplishments your children have experienced this year and throughout the remaining 20 days of school. As a special tribute, we will celebrate them during “Student Appreciation Week” from May 23rd through May 27th.

We will also be recognizing all the hard work and dedication our teachers have put into making this year as normal as possible as we continued to deal with COVID restrictions and CDC guidelines. They have been phenomenal in creating a learning environment that fosters learning regardless of the speed bumps we have encountered and they have gone above and beyond to meet the needs of all students, no matter how big or small. We will be celebrating all they do for our students during “Teacher Appreciation Week” from May 2nd through May 6th.

As the school year comes to a close, we have so much to be proud of and thankful for. Students have been celebrated for demonstrating character traits defined by our core essential value words each month. Fifty-four MPE students became published authors through the Young Authors contest. Within those fifty-four, nineteen were district winners and six were state winners! Many of our timeless traditions, including Community Morning Meeting, Lunch Bunch, Because I Love, and Perci’s Prize Patrol, occurred through collective creativity and community contributions.

We are thankful for grant funding from our Partner in Education, Entergy Waterford 3, and the St. Charles Parish Grant Foundation, which supported a number of educational services and student supported initiatives. We are also thankful for the successful fundraisers sponsored by our PTO throughout the year which made many events and celebrations possible. Our deepest gratitude goes out to you, the parents/guardians of our students, for your partnership with our teachers in fostering the academic and social/emotional development of your child during the 2021-2022 school year. Thank you for your unwavering support as we strived to make this year as ‘normal’ as possible for all stakeholders!

This year required everyone to exercise adaptability, flexibility, and understanding as we navigated unchartered waters. Working together, we truly exemplified our theme of “It’s a Great Day to be a Pelican!” We will finish strong and look forward to normalcy as we move into the 2022-2023 school year!

I truly appreciate all of your support of MPE! Have a safe and happy summer!

    Angi Butler

    Principal
