Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Corinne Heffron, M.Ed, PLPC, NCC

My name is Mrs. Heffron! This is my 12th year in education. I was an 8th Special Education teacher, 8th grade writing teacher, and a 7th grade social studies teacher all at Harry Hurst Middle School. I was also a Teacher Facilitator of Technology for all four middle schools in the district and the social studies eLearning support teacher for middle and high schools when many students switched to virtual learning. I am originally from Seattle, WA, but I have lived in Louisiana for more than 14 years! Don’t worry, I’m a Saints fan.

I am very excited to be the 7th grade counselor again for my second year at J.B. Martin Middle School. It is my goal to help students socially, emotionally, academically, and with college/career goals by facilitating their discovery of current strengths and channeling those strengths to overcome new challenges. I believe it is only possible for students to reach their goals if students, counselors, teachers, administrators, staff, parents/guardians, and community stakeholders work together.

Parent Involvement:

Children have greater academic success when their parents/guardians are involved in their education. Motivation, positive self-esteem, and sense of control over their environment improve with parental involvement in the schools. You, the parent or guardian, are the most important resource for the school counselors. Your involvement is critical in helping your child to be successful.

Please email (cheffron@stcharles.k12.la.us) or call me (985-758-7579) if you have any academic, social/emotional, or personal questions or concerns about your student. Please contact your child’s individual teachers if you have questions or concerns about a specific content area(s).

I encourage you to visit the Grade 7 Resources page on the JB Martin website under the Counseling tab. Here you will find resources to best help and understand your 7th grader. New resources will be posted throughout the year.
