Hello! I'm Zach Barton and this will be my 4th year as an educator! I have previously taught Grades 4, 7, & 8 and am now looking forward to the challenge of 6th Grade with my first year at Hurst! I am ecstatic about the opportunity to work with this year's Sixth Graders and helping them grow as responsible and successful middle schoolers as well as fantastic mathematicians.

My goals for this year are to create a classroom culture that promotes honesty, respect, accountability, and understanding through daily group work accompanied by rigorous independent work. 

To help each student be as successful as possible they will have an organized binder that will keep their weekly agenda, essential notes, and previously worked Exit Tickets just to name a few. Google Classroom will also be provided as a resource for each student so that they have supplementary content & links to so that they can be fully supported in their learning. To access the Google Classroom use https://classroom.google.com/ and have your child log in using their SCPPS Google account. From there you can access any resource or post I disperse throughout the school year.

I cannot express how much I look forward to this school year and aim for it to be the best one yet so let's make this a Hurstastic year!
