The Transportation Department is looking forward to welcoming the students back for the 2019-20 school year! Our staff is getting ready to meet your child at the bus stop on August 8th. We added some helpful information and tips to the website this summer to ensure a safe and successful ride.
We employ 145 bus operators, 35 monitors, a router and special needs clerk, East Bank and West Bank dispatchers, and clerical staff to ensure our students travel safely to and from school. In addition, our Service Department maintains and repairs our district-owned fleet of 153 buses. This department is staffed with mechanics, mechanic helpers, preventive maintenance staff, as well as supervisors to oversee the operation.
Our dedicated staff of 180 drivers and monitors goes through extensive training on federal and state laws, student behavior management, transporting students with special needs, and safety regulations before transporting students. We want to provide the safest ride for our students and you can help by reviewing the bus rules and safety tips before your child boards the bus. Please check the “Bus Rules and Safety Tips” page of the website to find helpful tips for a successful and safe ride.
This summer we mailed out a transportation address form for Kindergarten through 5th-grade students. If your child rides the school bus to and from school and will need to be picked up at an address other than their original registered address we are asking that you please fill out the new transportation address form. This form is located on the Find My Bus Stop page of the Transportation Section of the district's website. You may choose to email the completed form to email@example.com or return the enclosed form to St. Charles Parish Public Schools, Transportation Department, 13855 River Road, Luling, LA 70070. This information will allow us to continuously improve route accuracy and capacity on the buses.
Did you know St. Charles Parish Public Schools owns 153 school buses? All buses are equipped with air conditioning and an interior video camera system. Over 7,000 students are transported to and from school daily. Our school buses travel over 1,380,000 miles per year transporting students to and from school. Transportation service is also provided for after school activities, sports competitions, club competitions, as well as educational field trips. It is our goal to safely transport students to and from school on time. We value your feedback as we strive to continuously improve service for our students and community.
