Technology

  • In almost every organizational and instructional effort of the district, technology is used. Technology is systemically employed to organize, analyze, and communicate information that drives effective teaching and learning. The district’s teachers, students, administrators, and managers are provided with technologies that meet the standards set by national/international organizations.

    Building 21st Century Classrooms

With ever-changing instructional technology, St. Charles Parish Public Schools continues to research innovative models to implement into the classroom. Some of these models include uses of interactive devices, collaborative web-based tools, data analysis tools, and online curriculum. Professional development is an integral part of the implementation process. Teachers design model lessons to engage students using these tools.

    Bring Your Own Technology (BYOT)

As new technologies continue to change the world in which we live, they also provide many new and positive benefits. We recognize the educational value of electronic/telecommunication devices as they are increasingly being used for teaching and learning in classrooms around the nation. Technologies in our schools help students gain skills and knowledge, demonstrate creativity, engage in learning and foster responsible use of technology. Your own technology is defined as a privately owned wireless and/or portable electronic handheld device that includes but is not limited to smart technologies, portable internet devices, PDAs, iPods, etc. Since the pilot of 2012, the high and middle schools have established full BYOT programs. The use of BYOT is implemented and monitored by each school with the guidance of administrators and teachers.

St. Charles Parish Public Schools ensures that students and staff have access to up-to-date technology through its Long Range Strategic Action Plan (LRSAP). The plan includes action steps for the acquisition, replacement and implementation of technology.
