"There is always going to be bad stuff out there. But, here is the amazing thing: Light trumps darkness, every time. You can stick a candle into the dark, but you can't stick the dark into the light" author- Jodi Picoult

"The life of the arts, far from being a disruption, a distraction in the life of a nation, is very close to the center of a nation's purpose, and is a test of the quality of a nation's civilization." - Pres. John F. Kennedy

"Every time you practice or attempt something, you are succeeding at getting better - not failing at being perfect" attributed to Cary E. Krix of Deluth GA, who came up with this idea to inspire her daughter struggling with perfectionism.

"If you don't sing - you are NOT a musician!" Benny Ferguson, President of the Southern Division of MENC. Stated at the LMEA convention Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010

“Ives says (music) expands his mind and challenges him to be a true individual. Bernstein says (music) is enriching and ennobling. To me, that sounds like a good cause for making music and the arts an integral part of every child’s education. Studying music and the arts elevates children’s education, expands students’ horizons, and teaches them to appreciate the wonder of life.” Attributed to U.S. Sec. of Education Richard W. Riley, June 1999

"Music has always had a prominent part in all our products...So much so, in fact, that I cannot think of the pictorial story without thinking about the complimentary music which will fulfill it."  - Walt Disney

Watch your thoughts, they become words. Watch your words, they become actions. Watch your actions, they become habits. Watch your habits, they become character.... (author unknown)

“Even kids who've had 20 minutes a day of music lessons — which isn't a whole lot — will, after a year, demonstrate changes in how their nervous system responds to sound, be it music or speech. But these benefits are specific to individuals who've actively engaged in musical training" says lead author Nina Kraus, professor of neurobiology and physiology at Northwestern.

"Nothing activates the brain so extensively as music," said Dr. Oliver Sacks, professor of Neurology at Columbia University and author of the book, "Musicophilia." from an article about Rep. Gabby Giffords and the use of music therapy to further her speech recovery.
