Ms. Jeanne Nouri

Welcome, Angels!

I am looking forward to teaching English III and English IV, as I return for my 16th year teaching English at Hahnville High School.

Having spent a decade-and-a-half in the business world, I am thrilled to have the opportunity of continuing to follow my dream of becoming a teacher.  With a B.S. in Journalism from The University of Southern Mississippi and a Master's of Arts in Teaching from Southeastern Louisiana University, my background allows for my angels to be exposed to research-based instruction with "real world" applications.

I enjoyed being HHS's Teacher of the Year for 2013 and the English Department Chair from 2013-2016, but it is my angels that give me the motivation each and every day to continue to have high expectations because learning is the one gift that nobody can take from you!  In addition, this is my 9th year serving as a member of the ACT Committee at HHS; I am also part of the after-school tutoring program H.E.L.P.

On a personal note, my passions are reading and traveling.  I have currently visited 66 countries on five different continents, including The Great Barrier Reef, The Pryamids in Cairo, the reefs of Indonesia, the fjords of Norway and the exotic animals and marine life of Madagascar.  My new adventure is to visit all 50 states:  I have two more states to go--South Dakota and North Dakota!   I use both my reading and travel experiences to enrich the team-based nature of the lessons. The beauty of literature is that my angels can be in California one day and in Italy the next day.

This year I will continue to incorporate Google Classroom with our district-provided ChromebookGoogle Classroom is a tool that allows the teacher (me) to post announcements and reminders for my angels.  It will also allow for class assignments and submissions to be posted and collected digitally.

To access Google Classroom please use the following link:  https://classroom.google.com/  Please have your child log into their Google account.  Once logged in, you can review class announcements, assignments and course information.  You can also view Google Docs from the "Google Classroom" link on the left side of hte menu.

Please feel free to contact me at jnouri@stcharles.k12.la.us if you have any questions or concerns.

I look forward to working with all of my angels this year.  Class of 2018:  Bring it On!
