The Louisiana Department of Education announced its finalists in the state's Student of the Year competition on March 3, 2023. Eleanor Zafirau of Ethel Schoeffner Elementary School was selected as a 5th grade finalist for Region 2. The Superintendent surprised Miss Zafirau in her class this morning and congratulated her with flowers. Finalists will convene at the Capitol Park Museum in Baton Rouge on April 19 for an awards ceremony where the Louisiana Students of the Year winners will be announced.
